Umesh Mishra

Umesh Mishra, Ph.D.
CEO & Co-Founder

Umesh is responsible for the strategic direction of Transphorm, as well as customer relationships and technology. Prior to co-founding Transphorm in 2007, Umesh co-founded Nitres Inc. in 1996 - the first start-up company to develop GaN LEDs and transistors. Nitres was acquired by Cree in 2000. Umesh was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2010 and received the IEEE David Sarnoff Award for "The Development of Gallium Nitride Electronics". He is also Professor Above-Scale (the highest academic rank in the University of California System) in the ECE Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he has been a director of several GaN research centers.

Primit Parikh

Primit Parikh, Ph.D.
President & Co-Founder

Primit co-leads overall strategy at Transphorm. He is also responsible for P&L, customer relationships and products, engineering and manufacturing. Primit has over 10 years experience in business area leadership and over 15 years in GaN / semiconductor development, technical marketing and intellectual property. Prior to Transphorm, Primit led GaN electronics at Nitres Inc. through its acquisition by Cree, where he served as head of Advanced Technology at Cree SBTC in charge of GaN development and government business. Primit received his B.Tech. in EE from IIT, Mumbai and his Ph.D. in ECE from UCSB. He has more than 30 patents awarded/pending in the area of GaN materials, devices and circuits, and has co-authored more than 70 publications and presentations.

Carl Blake

Carl Blake
VP, Marketing

Carl is a recognized leader in the power industry, having successfully launched hundreds of new products and technologies. He began his career with Raytheon as a Power Systems Design Engineer, gaining experience in power supply, RF and logic design. Over the next 19 years, he progressed through many levels of the organization before moving to the semiconductor industry in 1991, bringing customer understanding to the new product definition process. He served as Co-Chair of the Technology Roadmap committee of the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA), and was recently elected as President. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering summa cum laude at the University of New Haven.

Yifeng Wu

Yifeng Wu, Ph.D.
VP, Product Development

Yifeng joined Transphorm in 2008 as Director of Circuits and Applications Engineering. He currently leads circuit engineering, packaging, applications and product roadmap. He previously worked at WideGap Technology LLC and Cree Inc. He received his Ph.D. degree from UC Santa Barbara, where he established himself as a pioneer in GaN Electronics. His contributions span from basic device process to cutting-edge device designs, including millimeter-wave HEMTs and high-efficiency power converters. He was the first to demonstrate a GaN microwave power HEMT and set several world records for the highest power densities of any solid-state transistor. He holds 17 patents and has authored many high-impact papers, resulting in more than 3000 citations in Google.

Heber Clement Heber Clement
VP, Backend Manufacturing

Mr. Clement is responsible for Transphorm's Backend Manufacturing, assembly and test operations covering U.S. and Asian operations. He brings over 30 years experience in semiconductor operations. Mr. Clement has focused on running large manufacturing operations, including foundry and subcontract management in the U.S. and in Asia. Mr. Clement was an early employee at Cypress Semiconductor with responsibility for the U.S assembly start-up. Prior to joining Transphorm, Mr. Clement was Director of Operations for California Micro Devices, focusing on Mobile applications with volumes exceeding 800 million units per year. Previously, he spent eight years covering Cypress Semiconductor Philippines and Dallas Semiconductor Philippines assembly and test start-ups.

John Nadaskay
VP, Finance and Administration

John joined the company in Jan, 2012 taking responsibility for the Financial and Administrative functions of Transphorm.  He brings to Transphorm over 20 years of progressive financial experience in Hi-Tech Manufacturing companies.  Most recently, he was the Manufacturing Controller at Infinera Corporation.  His experience includes being VP of Finance and Administration at Agility Communications, an optical components start-up that was eventually sold to JDSU.  John holds a CMA designation along with a Masters in Taxation from Nova Southeastern University and an MBA from Syracuse University (Whitman School of Management).

Jim Hartman Jim Hartman
VP, Wafer Fab Manufacturing

Jim Hartman is Vice President, Wafer Fab manufacturing and brings over 20 years experience in semiconductor device manufacturing at companies such as International Rectifier, S-T Microelectronics and Microsemi Corporation. At S-T Microelectronics and Microsemi, Jim increased wafer throughput 2-3X and decreased wafer cycle time 50%, while improving yield and process control. Hartman's Technical Manufacturing experience spans Semiconductor Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Yield Enhancement, Process Transfer for Semiconductor devices, Fuel Cells and MEMS devices. Hartman holds an M.S. in Chemistry from San Diego State University, and is currently a member of the Technical Advisory Board for wiSpry Corporation.
